Philipp Schönthaler

Philipp Schönthaler, born in 1976 in Stuttgart, studied English and art in Vancouver and received his PhD in 2010 in Konstanz with a dissertation on "Negations of the Narrator." His debut collection of stories, Nach oben ist das Leben offen, was awarded the Clemens Brentano Prize in 2012. He has published several story collections, novels, and essays, including Portrait des Managers als junger Autor (2016, awarded the Stuttgarter Wirtschaftsclub Prize) and Die Automatisierung des Schreibens (2022). His works often explore technology, the world of work, and social change. Schönthaler lives in Berlin.
