Düzen Tekkal
Human Rights Activist, Author, and FilmmakerDüzen Tekkal is a human rights activist, author, and filmmaker. Together with her sisters, she founded the human rights organization HÁWAR.help e.V., which is primarily involved in projects for girls and women in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and Germany. In her book and the educational movement of the same name, German Dream, she campaigns for a value-based Germany and against extremism and inhumanity.
During her fellowship, Düzen Tekkal will address the question of how democracies can defend their values against extremism and inhumanity, based on a study of the Yazidi genocide. In dialogue with leading experts on human rights and democracy work, she aims to promote transatlantic approaches to memory culture, the communication of values, and the prevention of extremism.
