Villa Aurora Fellows 2027

by Redakteur

In October, Villa Aurora resumed its regular operations as an artists' residence. A year and a half after the devastating fires in Los Angeles, Villa Aurora held an open house on August 30 to mark its reopening and has since begun welcoming back fellowship recipients and visitors. In 2027, the artists arriving in Los Angeles will primarily consist of those selected for the 2025 and 2026 cycles who are now undertaking their residencies.

The 2027 Villa Aurora fellows in the field of visual arts are Marianna Simnett and Sung Tieu, as well as Harry Hachmeister and Shirin Sabahi—the latter two having their residencies funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. Frieder Haller was selected as a 2027 Villa Aurora fellow by the jury of KunstSalon Köln.

The 2027 Villa Aurora fellows in the field of film are Dieu Hao Do and Sara Summa. İlker Çatak and Johannes Duncker were selected for the two fellowships supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

The 2027 Villa Aurora fellows in the field of composition are Christina Köhler (Tintin Patrone) and Masha Qrella, whose fellowship was awarded by Musicboard. Freya Arde was selected by Initiative Musik for the film music residency program, which is being offered for the first time in 2027.

The 2027 Villa Aurora fellows in the field of literature are Helene Bukowski and Ilija Matusko.
