Sara Summa

Sara Summa is a French-Italian filmmaker based in Berlin. She studied film theory in Paris, Bologna (Italy), and Providence (USA). She subsequently completed a directing degree at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). In 2019, her first feature film, The Last to See Them, had its world premiere at the Berlinale. Her films deal with themes of family, life, and death. She follows a cinematic approach that aims to test, interrogate, and challenge the medium of film.

During her stay at Villa Aurora, Sara Summa will develop the script for an English-language musical film. The film is set in a rural area in North America and has a strong social component dealing with the issue of unemployment.

Sara Summa is Villa Aurora Fellow of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
