M+M

Visual Art

M+M are an artist duo working at the intersection of visual art and film, known for their often striking interventions into interconnected realms such as highway systems, climate, and the interior of the human body. In recent years, their practice has focused on immersive, multi-channel film installations that weave together narrative fragments without fixed chronology, continuing the tradition of expanded cinema in a distinctly contemporary form.

Their works blur the boundaries between reality and fiction, inviting viewers to navigate layered, nonlinear story worlds that challenge conventional modes of perception and storytelling. M+M’s installations frequently create environments in which sound and image are distributed throughout the space, encouraging an active, multisensory engagement from the audience.

M+M’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions and screenings at major institutions, including Museum Folkwang in Essen, Haus der Kunst in Munich, Musée d’Art Contemporain in Montreal, Museum für Fotografie in Berlin, Sprengel Museum in Hanover, and the Venice Biennale.
