Fatma Aydemir

Fatma Aydemir, born in 1986 in Karlsruhe, is a writer and journalist. She studied German and American Studies in Frankfurt am Main and San Diego. Since 2012, she has lived in Berlin and worked as an editor for taz until 2023. She is a columnist for The Guardian and co-editor of the literary magazine Delfi. Her debut novel Ellbogen (2017) received the Klaus Michael Kühne Prize and the Franz Hessel Prize. Her second novel Dschinns (2022) was awarded the Robert Gernhardt Prize and the LiteraTour Nord Prize, and was shortlisted for the German Book Prize. Together with Hengameh Yaghoobifarah, she edited the anthology Eure Heimat ist unser Albtraum. In 2023, she wrote the play Doktormutter Faust for Schauspiel Essen.
