Almut Getto
FilmFirst Almut Getto studies Politics and Communication in Munich (Graduating M.A.) and then works as a TV Journalist for several years. In 1995 she enrolls at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Her graduation film Spots & Stripes, shot in Sheffield/UK, wins several national and international awards.
Almut´s first feature film Fickende Fische aka Do Fish Do it? premiers 2002. Among others it receives Best Director at the Max Ophuels Festival in Saarbruecken as well as the German Film Critics’ Award and the German Film Award in Gold for Best Script. Her second feature Ganz nah bei dir aka Close to you premiers in 2009 . Prizes include Audience Awards at Max Ophuels Festival Saarbruecken and Univerciné Festival Nantes, a DEFA-Award and Cinestar at Schwerin Art of Film Festival and the German Audio Description Award.
Almut is working as a writer, director, lecturer, dramaturg and film and script editor.
