Villa Aurora Night 2014
Villa Aurora Night 2014
Together with guests from the worlds of art, culture, and politics, we celebrated Villa Aurora Night again this year; this time at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Following a welcome address by Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, John B. Emerson, U.S. Ambassador to Germany, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the role of Villa Aurora in transatlantic dialogue and in his hometown of Los Angeles. Dr. Günter Winands, former Ministerial Director/State Secretary and representative of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, joined the previous speakers in commenting on the Transatlantic Free Trade Agreement and current debates regarding relations between the U.S. and Germany.
In a video presentation, we introduced the 2015 scholarship recipients and some of their work. Following the official portion of the event, we hosted a get-together in the club rooms of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and screened short films by former and future scholarship recipients Axel Ranisch, Katrin Gebbe, Stefan Kriekhaus, Alice Agneskircher, and David Sieveking.
