Salon Sophie Charlotte: In the Spotlight
Light and knowledge are virtually inseparable. That is why the Academy of Sciences is dedicating an entire evening to light and aims to “shine a light” on it with this year’s “Salon Sophie Charlotte.” The “light of the Enlightenment” will be a topic of discussion, as will Goethe’s relationship to light and the role of light in religions. From the speed of light to the technical and economic significance of light, from the “glowing rays” of musical sounds to the images of light in the novel by this year’s Book Prize winner, Lutz Seiler, key aspects of the power of light will be explored in an entertaining way. Light and sound installations by renowned artists such as Mischa Kuball, Philipp Lachenmann, and Jens Brand await you, along with many other informative and entertaining presentations on the theme of light.
