Fellows&Friends @ Otto Piene. More Sky
Zero artist Otto Piene is said to have remarked, in connection with the current exhibition of his work in Berlin, OTTO PIENE. MORE SKY, that this brings things full circle: 30 years after the first Sky Art event in Berlin, the exhibition served as the occasion for a new performance that, according to media reports, drew between six and ten thousand visitors to the plaza surrounding the Neue Nationalgalerie at the end of July. Around midnight, three enormous aerial sculptures rose into the night sky above the museum’s roof. The Neue Nationalgalerie became a pedestal for the visionary art of Otto Piene, who passed away unexpectedly on July 17.
In early August, a few friends, fellows, and we had the pleasure of being guided through the exhibition OTTO PIENE. MORE SKY—which she co-curated—by our new member, Babette Marie Werner.
The exhibition runs through the end of August.
