A conversation between Yasmin Merei and Ghayath Almadhoun as part of the Tage des Exils ("Days of Exile") 2023 program in Berlin.

The journalist Yasmin Merei and poet Ghayath Almadhoun talk about art in exile and the political in poetry. Ghayath and Yasmin are both from Syria and now based in Berlin.

Ghayath Almadhoun's poetry collections have won several awards and have been translated into dozens of languages. In 2023, he was a fellow at the Thomas Mann House in Los Angeles. Almadhoun describes exile as "living in the parallel." The journalist, linguist, and human rights activist Yasmin Merei was a Feuchtwanger Fellow at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles in 2015. She is currently managing the "Women for Common Space Organization", a network for women who are politically and culturally active in the Syrian diaspora in Berlin.
