Join The Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival for a ZOOM live discussion with acclaimed German director, Maria Schrader as she talks about her new Netflix series, "UNORTHODOX." It will be moderated by LAJFF’s Executive Director Hilary Helstein with an introduction by German Consul General Schneider. Maria Schrader

Two-time winner of the German Film award and two-time winner of the Bavarian Film award, Maria Schrader worked with directors such as Margarethe von Trotta, Peter Greenaway, and Agnieszka Holland (co-starred in “in Darkness). In addition to winning a silver Bear at the Berlinale for “Aimee & Jaguar” (LAJFF 2018), she thrilled television audiences in the Emmy award-winning series “Deutschland 83” and “Deutschland 86”. In 1998, Maria co-directed “The Giraffe” with Dani Levy (“Go For Zucker”). She directed the acclaimed drama, “Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe” in 2016 and was nominated Best Director at the German Film Awards. In 2018 she has been awarded a three months fellowship at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles. “Unorthodox”, the four-part limited series inspired by the New York Times best-selling book, is Maria’s first directing project with Netflix.
