Felix Hassenfratz was born in Heilbronn in 1981. He completed his studies successfully in 2007 at the International Film School in Cologne. After his graduation he worked as a freelance director for TV formats, including programs for children and teenager.

Amongst his films are Der Verdacht and documentaries such as Der Bäcker wars or Triangle. His films were distinguished with several awards, including the Deutschen Kurzfilmpreis and the Hamburg Nachwuchspreis as well. His film debut Verlorene, a radical anti-homeland film (theatrical release 17.1.2019) premiered at the BERLINALE 2018 in the section Perspektive Deutsches Kino. The film won the MFG Star 2018, Hans W. Geißendörfer Drehbuchpreis, the NDR Filmpreis and was distinguished as the best debut at the Biberacher Filmfestspielen.
