Chao-Ming Tung is a composer, musician and Zheng player. He began studying composition in his hometown Taipei. From 1990-1997, he studied music mainly at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne with Johannes Fritsch and Mauricio Kagel. Tung graduated with honors in 1999 with Nicolaus A. Huber in Essen. Since 2007 he has been teaching composition at the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan.

Apart from working as a composer, he actively collaborates with dancers and painters and searches far and wide for new forms of expression that express his sound ideal. His work encompasses multimedia, performance, dance theater, operetta, sound installation, interdisciplinary performance and electronic music. His compositions have been performed at numerous international music festivals such as: MaerzMusik Berlin; Festival of Contemporary Music Huddersfield England; Music Biennale Zagreb; musica viva Munich; and Soundfield Festival Chicago. In several of his performances he has focused on the interaction between auditory and visual arts.
