Eliav Brand studied composition with Joseph Dorfman at the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv and earned a PhD with “Highest Distinction” at the State University of New York at Buffalo under David Felder, Cort Lippe and Walter Zimmermann.

Brand’s works encompass both chamber music and interdisciplinary projects, which he developed in close collaboration with video artists, writers, and architects. His works have been performed in Europe, Israel, Japan and the United States and broadcast on the radio, for example, during the Darmstadt Summer Courses, the Eclat-Stuttgart and the June in Buffalo Festival. He has worked with artists such as the New York New Music Ensemble; Neue Vokalsolisten; Surplus; Varianti; Quatuor Bozzini; Ensemble d’Ame; Ensemble Mosaik, and the Ensemble InterContemporain.

Brand has received numerous grants and awards including: the Minerva Stiftung of the Max Planck Society and the Berliner Senat, the Akademie Schloss Solitude and the Künstlerhof Schreyahn in Germany, the Yvar Mikhashoff Foundation and the Research Foundation of State University of New York. As a curator, he oversaw concerts of contemporary music for “Malchinim Menagnim” in Israel and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has held teaching positions at Buffalo State College and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been living in Germany since 2001.
