Events | Book Launch: "Miami Punk" by Juan S. Guse

Berlin | March 7, 2019 | 8:00 PM

The Atlantic Ocean has retreated from the Florida coast overnight, leaving a desert behind. Cruise ships are rusting in the sand off the coast of Miami, the hotels are empty, the port operations are closed down and even the infomercial industry is shattered. In the midst of it, an overambitious indie game programmer, a stumbling working-class family, a young sociologist and an e-sports team from Wuppertal. Funny and sad, dark and labyrinthine: MIAMI PUNK is a novel about the meaning of work, about power and control and about lonely nights in front of the computer.

Juan S. Guse was a fellow at Villa Aurora in 2018, where he worked on MIAMI PUNK. Together with the Kabeljau & Dorsch, he celebrates his book launch at the Berlin Ringtheater. The authors Katja Brunner and Jakob Nolte will respond to the novel with literary associations. There will also be a corner for computer games. The event will be moderated by Chris Möller.
