Molting the fractured

Work in progress: Molting the fractured
Work in progress: Molting the fractured

The starting point for the exhibition "Molting the Fractured" is a BMW Mini Cooper, whose parts, pressed in aluminum, float as sculptural shapes in space. The car is an integral part of our mobility-oriented society. When we enter it, it surrounds us like a second skin and it allows us to reach previously impossible speeds. Sandeep Mukherjee changes this second skin from its original shape and allows the viewers to experience it in a new form.

Sandeep Mukherjee, who lives and works in Los Angeles, not only fills entire exhibition rooms with his installations, but also makes these rooms physically experienceable. His work, which often consists of individual modules, reacts to the situation of the room, plays with light and shadow, and opens up new perspectives depending on the point of view. Sandeep Mukherjee is Berlin Fellow of Villa Aurora in 2017.
