Berlin-based musician Ilgen-Nur receives a 2021 fellowship at the Villa Aurora. This is the eighth fellowship awarded by Musicboard Berlin in cooperation with VATMH.

Ilgen-Nur was recommended by a newly appointed jury of Berlin pop experts* from 2020, consisting of Julia Lorenz (editor and author), Pamela Owusu-Brenyah (freelance A&R and music consultant), Sarah Farina (DJ and producer), Elia Rediger (musician and playwright) and Katja Lucker (managing director of Musicboard Berlin GmbH).

The jury, which has nominated 78 other artists for fellowships and project grants besides Ilgen-Nur, says: "In times of uncertainty, two things help immensely: solidarity and confidence. Artists in Berlin can use both of these things, whether they are at the very beginning of their career or have been enriching the music scene for years. After all, the Corona crisis is hitting them particularly hard. The Musicboard's jury is therefore pleased to be able to award 79 fellowships this year - more than in any previous year. We consider it essential, especially now, to offer support to as many artists as possible for the coming months. Because the confidence that a lively pop scene can give to a city will certainly help many Berliners through the crisis."
