Judith Kaufmann made the transition from operator to Director of Photography in the nineties and has since worked on award-winning feature films like Andres Veiel’s „If not us, who?, “When we leave“ by Feo Aladag and Georg Maas” “Two Lives“. Her recent camera work includes „13 Minutes“ and the German-British miniseries „The Same Sky“, both directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, and Petra Volpe“s „The Divine Order“, a huge success in Switzerland and the country’s entry in the Academy Award“s foreign-language category. In 2017 Judith shot the biopic „The Boy Needs Some Fresh Air“, directed by Academy Award winner Caroline Link, which became the most successful German film in recent years and is a contender for several German Film Awards including Best Cinematography. Last year Judith shot the drama „A Regular Woman“ by director Sherry Horman that premiered in April 2019 at the 18th Tribeca Film Festival and Ina Weisse’s „The Audition“.

At present Judith Kaufmann works with the Swiss director Bettina Oberli on the feature film „Wanda, my miracle“ and prepares Ilker Catak’s „Robbers’ Hands“.

In 2012 Judith received the Honorary Award of the Deutsche Kamerapreis, she is a member of the German Society of Cinematographers and of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She lives in Berlin.
