Lisa Kohl was born in 1988 in Luxembourg, Luxembourg City. In 2013 she completed her Bachelor‘s degree in visual arts at the École Supérieure d‘Arts Visuels La Cambre in Brussels, Belgium. In 2017 she graduated with distinction in sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. During her studies in 2017 she received a three-month studio scholarship in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2018 she obtained an appreciation for the Art Prize of the Saalesparkasse Foundation for the special artistic quality of her final year project. This year she is a scholarship holder at the Artists‘ Residence Villa Aurora in Los Angeles, USA through the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation. Lisa Kohl has participated in various group and solo exhibitions in Brussels, Istanbul, Havana and within Germany. Most recently she was invited to an exhibition and artist talk at the ZK/U in Berlin as part of the OPENHOUSE.

Lisa Kohl intends to examine social conditions artistically and formulate them poetically in the media of video and object art as her own point of view; she creates images for what drives her in realtime, a balancing act between political commitment and personal visual language.

This fellowship is supported by the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt.
