Florian Werner was born in Berlin in 1971. He studied American, English and German Literature in Tübingen, Berlin and Aberdeen, Scotland, and received a Master’s Degree in 2000. In 2006, he completed his doctoral thesis Rapocalypse, which focuses on millenarian imagery in African-American HipHop lyrics. His book publications include a collection of short stories (Wir sprechen uns noch), an adventure novel (co-written with his band Fön and published pseudonymously under the name Klaus Luzifer McCoy) and four books of non-fiction, on topics as diverse as the history of human excrement (Dunkle Materie) and Shyness (Schüchtern). His book Die Kuh: Leben, Werk und Wirkung, published in 2009, was voted ‘most original science book of the year’ and has been translated into English and Japanese. When he is not writing, Florian tours with his band Fön and plays soccer for the German national team of writers. He lives in Berlin with his wife and daughter.
